Police Confirm Attack On Popular Lounge In P’Harcourt

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the attack on a popular Lounge along Woji road in GRA Port Harcourt, The Boss, where three persons were killed including two mobile officers.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Nnamdi Omoni, told newsmen that the operatives were caught in a surprise and shot by the armed men who were in search of their hit in the Lounge.

Omoni, who is a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said one of the armed men was shot dead by another MOPOL officer who he said was also hit by bullet and was currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

He added that some of the hoodlums escaped with bullet wounds while three rifles were recovered from the scene of the incident.

The Police also confirmed the release of two kidnap victims who were abducted along the Emohua axis of the East-West road.

According to him, “In keeping with the “Charge” by the Commissioner of Police Rivers State, CP Usman .A. Belel to smash all criminal gangs in the State and make the State grossly uninhabitable for criminals. The Command recorded the following milestone.

“Earlier today 6/5/19 at about 0500Hrs, Operatives of the Anti Kidnapping Unit led by the Commander, stormed a forest at Rumuodogo in Emohua LGA, where they rescued two kidnapped victims who were abducted at the East/West road on 30/4/19 while returning from Warri to PH.

“The two young ladies were rescued unhurt, while one of the Kidnappers, who was keeping watch over them, was caught in the cross fire that ensued between the Police and the hoodlums and he die  immediately.

“Their camp was destroyed while others fled with gun shot wounds.

“Exhibit recovered from their camp include: One K2 Rifle, One magazine loaded with sixteen rounds of live ammunition.

“Operatives of F-SARS, Bori, led by the Commander, while acting on credible information, arrested a four-man gang of vandals that specializes in the vandalization of electrical materials and other critical Government Infrastructure in Bori and its environs.

“The suspects are: Legborsi Kabari 27 yrs, Godgift Nnanha 22 yrs, Gideon Leba 18 yrs and Meeabari Obaame 21 yrs.

“The suspects who have confessed to have vandalized the electrical materials including armoured cables worth about Thirty Million Naira, led the Police Team to Eleme where some of the armoured cables were recovered.

“The cables were dug from where they were buried in the electrical projects by the State Government, between Saakpewa and Bori.”
