Elikpokwu-Odu Community Inaugurates New CDC Executive
Elikpokwu-Odu Community in Rukpokwu, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State has inaugurated new community development committee (CDC) executive to oversee the affairs of the community.
The officers were sworn-in on Monday May 20, 2019 at Elikpokwu-Odu Town Hall.
Those inaugurated are; Hon. Prince Sunny Opara – Chairman, Nyebuchi Mgbakiri – Vice Chairman, Weli Ndubuisi Charles – General Secretary, Amb. Ejekwu Charles – Treasurer, Wobo Chinda – Assistant Secretary, Wobo Bright – PRO, Bekwele Wobo Progress – Financial Secretary, Prince Ohabiko Princewill – Provost I and Irochika Emmanuel Opara – Provost II.
Speaking to newsmen after the inauguration, the chairman, Hon. Prince Sunny Opara said his administration will work towards bringing peace to Elikpokwu-Odu Community. He said he would introduce internal security mechanism and partner with security agencies to tackle cultism, kidnapping and other crimes in the community.
He also assured that his administration would unite the elders with the youths, adding that empowerment of youths and other community members will be a cardinal point of his administration.
Also speaking at the event, Head Chief of Rumuwedegele, Chief Christopher Weli, that of Ohu Community, Mgbakiri who is also the 2nd in command in Elikpokwu-Odu, Eze Owondah Mgbakiri and Chief Samuel Walter of Amadi Wobo family said the election was peaceful and conformed with the standard the Apara kingdom set.
According to them, the chiefs and elders of the community wanted the best for their people which was why they chose the best for the CDC job, assuring that the new officers will not disappoint them.
Other top Rukpokwu citizens who witnessed the inauguration were: Comrade ThankGod Wuzor, CDC Chairman Rukpokwu and Engr. Onwukwe Achinike, Rukpokwu Youth President.
