Monarch Canvasses Support For Gov Wike

…Says Its Time For Governance

One of the respected traditional rulers in Rivers State, HRH Eze Ken O. Nwala, Ugo I of Etcheland, Onyeishi Agwuru III and paramount ruler of Ulakwo/Umueselem Kingdom in Etche LGA of Rivers State has stated that what is needed now is for Rivers people to join hands and work together in the interest of the State now that the electioneering campaigns and election is over and a winner emerged in the person of Gov Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

Speaking with newsmen in his office in Port Harcourt, over the weekend, the traditional ruler said governance is continuous and what is important is that subsequent administrations should be able to build on past achievements to move the state forward.

He praised the governor for extending the olive branch to his opponents, a development which he noted, stands the governor out as an outstanding politician who has the interest of the state at heart and urge the political opponents to sheath their swords and work with the administration hoping that the governor will mean and stand by his words.

The monarch also advised the governor to ensure that everybody feel belonging.

According to him, “Gov Wike should be grateful to God for the massive support Rivers people gave him and so make the place conducive and peaceful for all to dwell in as peace is panacea to development” he said.

Eze Nwala also commended Gov Wike for the all inclusive government he pronounced, adding that if politicians deemphasized on the attitude of winners takes all, the violence and antagonistic attitude associated with politics will drop.

“We need to emulate Lagos State in terms of progress and development and not that of where one person dictates the pace and tune of everything”.

He also advised the governor to concentrate attention on human capital development, agriculture and job creation for the troubled youths.

On the role of traditional rulers in governance, Eze Nwala advocated for them to be carried along properly. He made it clear that the role of royal fathers in terms of security especial in the rural areas cannot be overemphasized and so should be empowered to set up a vigilante group to support the security agents secure their domain better.

The monarch also urged the government to allow them to take charge of the Customary Courts as the custodians of the peoples tradition and culture instead of the current situation where lawyers, most of whom are not living amongst the rural people are given the roles which in some cases is alien to them and eventually lacks coordination.

He reiterated the support and commitment of the traditional rulers to the Wike administration at all times in his determination to take the state to greater heights.
