Late Eliozu Paramount Ruler, I. J. Woko Laid To Rest
…Amid Pomp, Pageantry
The late Paramount Ruler/Nyenweli Eliozu Community in Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers State, HRH, Eze Iweala Joseph Woko (JP), was laid to rest over the weekend in his compound amid pomp and pageantry.
The monarch who died at the age of 86 was said to be an accomplished and peaceful gentleman who left a worthy legacy.
Delivering his sermon at the Church of Holy Spirit, Eliozu Parish, Dioces of Evo Anglican Communion, Oroigwe/Eliogbolo Archdeacory, Rev. Canon Chuka Opara said death is a necessary end that must come when it will come, adding that it is a debt every living being must pay.
The man of God made it clear that Heaven and hell is real and that one’s actions here on earth determines his destination hereafter.
He reminded the congregation that whatever action one takes on earth, somebody, somewhere is taking records and would be made available against every individual on the judgement day, explaining that it is the more reason every living soul should be anxious to accomplish his/her set task before death comes.
Rev. Canon Opara stressed that one can’t do everything he/she has set out to do before “Mr. Death” comes knocking but that one should try to satisfy his/her conscience.
The only lesson of the funeral service that was taken from Rev. 21:1-8 was read by the deceased grandson, Master Chisom Maclord Woko.
The biography of late HRH, Eze Iweala J. Woko which was read by one of his daughters, princes Ndidi Anita revealed that his father was a peaceful and silent achiever whose 47 year reign brought development to Eliozu Community.
She also disclosed that late Eze Woko was a devouted Christian and disciplinarian who loved and contributed immensely to the things of God.
Late Eze Woko was reported to be a lover of education who not only pursued his educational career diligently but encouraged his children to acquire education to any level they desired.
According to her, “my late father lived a very simple life. His detribalized nature and care for others endeared him to people of diverse ethnic groups”. The Eliozu community wish the deceased a peaceful repose of his soul.
The body of the late Paramount Ruler was lowered to mother earth at his compound amidst the celebration of various traditional and religions rites as well as cultural display.
