Ochi-Oha Vows To Enshrine Values, Promote Peace, Unity In Idu-Obosiukwu Community

As part of his mandate to the people of Idu-Obosiukwu Community of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, the new Ochi-Oha, Chief Bright Orukwo Uche has assured that efforts would be geared towards instilling the revered customs, traditions as well as the socio-cultural values of the Ogba on his subjects, within the statutorily stipulated period in office.

Speaking to journalists shortly after his installation ceremony which held at the Idu-Obosiukwu Community Hall on Sunday, June 2, 2019, the Ochi-Oha reechoed his resolve to diligently work towards sustaining the existing peace and tranquility being enjoyed in the community.

The Ochi-Oha who hails from the Umueze-Idu kindred of Idu Ogba, disclosed that a high-powered peace and reconciliatory committee would be set up with the objective to reconcile all feuding families in Idu-Obosiukwu with a view to enthroning lasting peace and unity amongst the people.

Stressing that true development can only be achieved in an atmosphere devoid of hatred and acrimony, Chief Bright Orukwo Uche solicited the support and cooperation of everyone irrespective of religious and political affiliation to move the community forward.

The paramount ruler also promised that he would lead by example, even as he poured adulations on the Eze Okwu-Onu-Ka-Oha of Idu-Ogba Community, Eze Prince (Amb) Uche Umejuru who lead elders of the community to administer the oath of office on him, for his inspiring leadership as the King of the community.

While also pledging to work in tandem with the Community Development Committee (CDC), women and youth groups as well as the King and his council of elders, to steer the ship of community development, the Ochi-Oha also assured that his loyalty to King Umejuru remains unshaken, adding that the advent of the noble Prince is unprecedented, owing to the quantum of development and attention he has attracted to the community less than three years of his reign.

On the spate of insecurity threatening parts of the State, he said: “No community is completely left out of that challenge in the State which includes Idu-Obosiukwu.  To that extent, I will deploy every instrument available to me to tackle insecurity, within the first 100 days in office”.

The Ochi-Oha who described himself as a youths-friendly father, said he would use his disposition to fashion out plans and programmes that would engage the youths of the community into meaningful ventures, adding that such situation would only be feasible when sustainable peace is seen to have taken the center stage.
