The Traditional Ruler and Amanyanabo of ancient Ele Kingdom in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, King Felix Tamunoseipiriala Okuru recently paid a courtesy and congratulatory visit to the Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District, Senator George Thompson Sekibo to felicitate with him on his election victory and inauguration as a member of the 8th National Assembly.
Speaking during the visit at the home of the lawmaker in Port Harcourt, Monday, June 17, 2019, King Felix Okuru who led his Divisional Council of Chiefs, Elder and people of the community said his re-election was a result of his antecedents and wealth of experience and wished him well.
The Ele Monarch assured that the people of Ogu and Ele Kingdoms would continue to live in peace and unity as some persons who want to sow a seed of discord among the two communities have been given a marching order to withdraw the law suit instituted against Ogu, pointing out that both communities are brothers that would continue to live in peace, love and unity.
He exonerated himself and the people of the community from the suit as those behind it did so on their own, stressing that nothing will stain the relationship and co-existence of the two kingdoms as they are their brother’s keeper, and appealed to the senator to use his good offices in resolving some issues in Ele Kingdom.
King Felix Tamunoseipiriala reiterated that the cases in court will be withdrawn as soon as possible for them to speak with one voice, move forward in development and also enjoined the senator to consider Ele Kingdom in some of his constituency projects in Rivers East Senatorial District.
In his response, Senator George Thompson Sekibo urged the people to embrace peace and unity in order to attract rapid development in the area and also charged them to withdraw the court case against and chiefs and people of Ogu, pointing out that they are brothers and sisters as every Ele person is an Ogu man by extension.
Senator Sekibo noted that no community could thrive in an atmosphere of acrimony, rancor and in-fighting and stressed the need for the both communities to live in peace, unity and love.
The Federal Lawmaker frowned that due to lack of unity, the Energy City that was proposed to be sited in the area failed as such project would have generated employment opportunities to the teeming youths and development, enjoining them to retrace their steps, unite and forge ahead.
He wished the Ele Monarch peaceful reign and thanked them for the visit.
Also speaking, the Chief Whip and member of the Rivers State House of Assembly representing Ogu/Bolo Constituency, Rt. Hon. Evans Bapakaye Bipi expressed delight at the visit.
Bipi also enjoined them to withdraw their case against the people of Ogu so that they would continue in unity and speak with one voice, adding that with peace and unity, the community will move forward and attract more developmental projects.
In their separate speeches, Chief Sample Amatarime Amakiri and Chief Tamunosiki Tiene Peritiene said they were in the residence of the senator to congratulate him on his electoral victory and inauguration and to officially introduce the King and the Chiefs to him, and commended him for the role he played for the resettlement of Ele Kingdom in their present site, assuring him of their loyalty.
