RIWAMA Sole Administrator, Bro. Felix Obuah Raises Alarm Over Fake Revenue Agents Using The Name Of The Agency To Defraud

The attention of the Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Bro. Felix Obuah has been drawn to the fraudulent activities of a group of fraudsters who are going about the streets defrauding unsuspecting shop owners, business operators and motorists in the State, of Sanitation levies in the name of the Agency.

Expressing his anger over the development, the Sole Administrator in a statement through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam said the Agency has neither directed nor intends to direct any person or group of persons on such dubious and criminal act now or in the future.

Of particular concern, according to the RIWAMA Sole Administrator, is a certain MRS. SUZAN SOLOMON with phone number: 08037079729 and PHILIMEON OBELE, and their accomplices with phone number 08035365552 who allegedly operate along the Akpajo-Refinery Junction axis, harassing commercial motorists and business operators, forcing them to buy daily Sanitation tickets, claiming to be Revenue Agents from RIWAMA.

Bro. Obuah said the Agency is further worried as these fraudsters are said to even issue their unsuspecting victims with fake receipts bearing the name of RIWAMA.

He warned for the umpteenth time that everything that has to do with revenue collection is under the control and supervision of Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue, stressing that the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) does not collect revenue or levies of any sort; and anyone caught doing so should be treated as a criminal.

Bro. Obuah reiterated that any person harassing shop owners for levies or monies of any kind and, or seizing their goods on behalf of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) must be criminals and should be apprehended and taken to the Police for prosecution.

The RIWAMA boss also advised that such victims should alert the Agency accordingly.

He regretted that despite persistent cautions and warnings from the Agency to the general public about the Environmental Laws, some people have continued to be victims to the treachery and cheap tricks of vagabonds.
