Police Destroy Kidnappers’ Camp At Omerelu

The Rivers State Police Command says it has destroyed a kidnappers camp at Omerelu in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

In a statement released and signed on July 15, 2019 by the Command’s spokesperson, Omoni Nnamdi the police explained that operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), in a sting operation on July 5, 19 following the attack on motorists along the Omerelu/Owerri Road on July 4, 19 while acting on credible information, stormed a Kidnapper’s Den at a forest in Omerelu.

The statement read that: “On sighting the Police,the hoodlums engaged them but were repelled and chased farther into the forest with some of them sustaining life threatening gunshot wounds.

In the wake of the incident their camp was dismantled and set ablaze.

Exhibits recovered from them include: One locally made pistol, live Ammunition, one 32inches plasma TV, one generator, one bag of garri, Bank ATM Cards and Photographs of the hoodlums”.

He added that efforts have been intensified to ensure the timely arrest of the fleeing hoodlums. As we strongly appeal to the public to avail us of any information that can lead to their arrest.
