Bille Waterway Attacks: RSHA  Invites DELGA Chairman

Worried about the spate of insecurity on Billie  Waterway, the Rivers state House of Assembly has resolved to invite the Executive Chairman of Degema local Government Council, Hon. Tony Philmoore to report to it the progress of agreement reached on the issues of sea pirates attacks on the Billie waterways in other to secure the lives and properties of Bille people including those traveling on the waterways.

This follows the report submitted by the ad-hoc committee set up by the House to look into the issues of sea pirates attacks on the Billie waterways.

The Speaker of the House, Ikunyi Owaji Ibani, said the invitation became necessary in other to update the House on the level of the contributions of various stakeholders in securing the people of Bille.

The Majority leader of the House, Martin Ameawhule who read the recommendations of the ad-hoc committee report said the state Government should improve security situation in the area, fish out criminal elements in the area and the chairman of Degema local government area to step up the security of the area .

Meanwhile, lawmakers during their contributions on the report said multinationals operating along the waterways in the area should also be invited to know the level of their contributions towards securing lives and properties of the area.

They also urged the Rivers State Government to revisit the Neighbourhood Watch security outfit, opining that it will help in checking the criminal elements in Billie, while calling on Shell, Bellema Oil, New cross and other companies in the area to key into whatever security structure that will be established.
