Ele Monarch Charges Ijaw Waterfront Women On Rights

The Amanyanabo of ancient Ele Kingdom, Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, King Felix Tamunoseipiriala Okuru has enjoined members of Ijaw Waterfront Women, Rivers State Chapter to speak with one voice in their agitation for justice, equity and the rights of the Ijaw ethnic nationality.

King Felix Tamunoseipiriala Okuru, Apina VII who made the call when the group paid him a courtesy visit in his palace in Port Harcourt said their programme would give the Ijaws worldwide their rightful place, as they cannot continue to play second fiddle any longer.

The Ele Monarch called for all hands to be on deck for all Ijaws to reap the labour of their heroes past, and also called on all Ijaws at home and in diaspora to support the group achieve set goals.

He lauded the group for their vision and love for the Ijaw land and urged them to carry out their programmes with maturity, peacefully and with one voice.

The king of ancient Ele Kingdom promised to assist the group and blessed them so that they could go about their agitation hitch-free. He also accepted their offer to be their patron.

Also speaking, an elder in Ele Kingdom, Elder Gospel Imbu advised the women to be proud as Ijaw who are one of the largest tribes in Nigeria.

Elder Imbu said as gallant women with a vision, they should join their men counterparts for their voice to be heard until they achieve their aim.

In their separate speeches, the president of Ijaw Waterfront Women, Sarah Gbelabo and the co-ordinator of Ogu/Bolo Chapter, Charity Nangibo described the king as a good man, and philanthropist who is committed to the welfare of his people.

The duo observed with joy that there has been relative peace and development in Ele Kingdom since the paramount ruler ascended the throne.

They admitted that it is for the Ijaws especially the Okrikans not to continue to play the second fiddle politically and in other activities that they are willing to partner all Ijaw kings, politicians and others in projecting the nation.

They further disclosed plans to hold Ijaw Waterfront Women Programme to further showcase their activities in all the Local Government Areas of Rivers State, and finally conferred him as their patron.
