Gov Wike’s Visit To Ogoni Excites  Traditional Ruler

King (Dr.) Taalor Torwe IV, Mene Bua Boue, the paramount ruler of Kono Bue, Babbe Kingdom in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State has commended Governor Nyesom Wike over his recent visit to Ogoni land to sympathize with families of those that died during the cult clash in Bue Community.

He made the commendation in Port Harcourt while addressing newsmen, pointing out that the visit of the governor was a step in the right direction and a clear indication that he loves the people of Ogoni.

Torwe expressed optimism that Wike’s presence in the community, especially Boue, will bring lasting peace to the area. He therefore on behalf of the chiefs, CDCs, opinion leaders as well as youth groups in the various communities of Boue pledged his kingdom’s support and unalloyed loyalty to the governor even as he urged the youths to surrender their guns and embrace peace.

According to him, “We thank God that the governor, Chief Wike has visited the place and has seen what is on ground. We believe his presence will restore permanent peace to the community, because if something is done to put an end to culstism in Boue Communities and the entire Babbe, peace will return and this crisis will disappear”.

However, he appealed to the governor to come to the aid of the people by building a Police Station and reconstruct the only road linking the various communities in the area which was abandoned by NDDC as promised during his visit, adding that such development would help to boost the economic well-being of the people and the youths will no longer be idle as according to him “an idle mind is the devil’s workshop”.

It would be recalled that the attack which left about 9 persons dead in Boue Communities was greeted with widespread condemnation as some youth groups in Ogoni threatened to protest against it.
