Let OSPAC, Neighborhoodwatch Complement ‘Operation Sting’ – Traditional Ruler

As Rivers State Governor, Chief (Barr) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike continues to receive compliments over  the Operation Sting initiative targeted to curb the lingering insecurity in parts of the State, a traditional ruler in Egbema Kingdom of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, High Chief (Hon) Kenneth Aliba has called for the integration of the Rivers State Neighborhood Safety Corps Agency (RIVNESCA) and the ONELGA Security and Advisory Planning Committee (OSPAC) into the fold for more concerted networking.

The royal father who spoke in a recent interview with National Network at Erema Town, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, affirmed that as much as Governor Wike deserved a pat for taking the bold and courageous steps in tackling the menace, integrating the groups in the operation would yield the desired result because of their proximity to the grassroots.

“The governor of Rivers State has done well in all ramifications. He is a tireless, proactive and workaholic leader.  The Operation Sting is a welcome development in the State but we advise that the other security apparatuses like OSPAC and Neighborhood Watch be beefed up to sustain the tempo”, he said.

High Chief Aliba who was in Erema Town to celebrate the Egwu Ogba New Yam festival, expressed delight with the strides made by OSPAC in ONELGA where according to him, the security outfit had brought total peace in all the nooks and crannies.

Aliba, the Eze Ugo-Oyibo 1 of Egbema Kingdom noted that OSPAC was making inroads into other LGAs by inducting the locals, a move tailored to rescue the state from a situation he said, was posing serious security threats.

The traditional ruler said the Neighborhood Watch on the other hand will do a lot in sanitizing the State, adding that Operation Sting would serve as a link between the other security groups.

He further urged Governor Wike to solicit federal government’s assistance with procurement of aircrafts for crime fighting.

“The activities of criminals along Elele-Omoku road as well as Emohua strip of the East-West road has become a recurring decimal with no lasting solution.  If we have just two helicopters hovering above those flashpoints at regular interval, you find that the criminals would have no place to hide because with very strong binoculars, they would be traced to their kitchen and toilet”, he enthused.
