Ogoni Killings: Ex-agitator Begs For Gov. Wike’s Intervention

An ex-militant leader, Solomon Ndigbara has appealed to Governor Nyesom Wike to intervene in the security challenges in Ogoni, alleging that some Ogoni leaders have hand in the recent gang wars and killings in communities there.

Ndigbara made the appeal during a chat with newsmen at his hometown, Yeghe, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The ex-militant leader who expressed annoyance at the recent spate of killings and destruction of valuable property by armed gunmen in some Ogoni communities, said that it was high time measures are put in place to tackle the issues frontally.

“In the first place, any security agent that has stayed in Khana LGA for more than four years should be transferred. The Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike should call all Ogoni politicians and caution them to remove their hands from what is going on,” Ndigbara opined.

He however  lauded the Governor for dethroning a traditional ruler who was alleged to have been involved in some crisis in Khana as well as the various measures he has put in place to end insecurity, while advicing the State Chief Executive to deploy a special security team to crisis-ridden areas in Ogoni.

Promising to work with the team to identify trouble makers to put an end to the killings and cult wars, Ndigbara disclosed that some Ogoni Chiefs and prominient politicians are involved in the crisis and denied his involvement in the crisis.

On his recent Peace Award from Pan African International Magazine, Accra, Ghana, he expressed happiness especially as it came from outside the country, saying it will spur him to do more humanitarian works; pointing out that he has met with the Khana council boss on two occasions to interface with him on how to solve the cult crisis.
