Rumuchi Residents Resort To Self Help To Checkmate Insecurity

Following the rising spate of criminality and the continued detention of one Bolaji, a resident of Rumuchi street in Rumuekini community, in Obio/Akpor local Government area of Rivers State who was abducted some weeks ago from his house, residents of the area have begun to mount gates in some streets as one of the ways of checkmate bandits in the area.

The residents are worried that Mr Bolaji who was kidnapped just four days to the dedication of his last child in church, is still in the custody of his abductors alleged payment of huge sum of money as ransom.

A resident believe that installing street gates to serve as access control will go a long way in solving the rate of insecurity in the area as people going in and out of the place during day and night will be subjected to proper scrutiny.

Also worried about the continued withholding of the kidnap victim are members of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) where the victim and have been offering prayers to ensure his safe release.

The wife of Mr Bolaji, a nursing mother and senior police officer has allegedly fled their house.

The victim’s vehicle was reportedly recovered by the Police around Isiokpo/Omagwa junction in Ikwerre local Government area three days after the kidnap.

The Rivers State Police Command is yet to confirm or comment on the despite efforts made to reach them.
