FRSC Boss Urges Illegal Motor Park Operators, Traders To Comply With Govt Directive
The Rivers State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. David Mendie has called on illegal motor park operators and illegal street traders to comply with government directives in vacating their areas of illegal operation.
The Rivers FRSC boss who gave the charge while fielding questions from newsmen on Wednesday in PH said that the idea was to ensure free flow of traffic on the roads.
He called on them to relocate to designated areas to allow sanity and safety for road users.
“They should comply with the governor’s directive and go to designated areas for their business,” he added.
On the registration of new number plates, the traffic chief stated that the corps would start enforcement of the registration of new number plates from the 1st of January, 2020.
Mendie noted that FRSC had directed motorists to change from the old number plates to the new ones since 2011.
The Rivers FRSC Sector Commander stated that any motorist who failed to change to the new number plates from the old ones would be arrested and penalized.
He appealed to motorist to obey the instruction of the corps, adding that the policy was in their own interest and the entire society.
Mendie commended the Rivers State government for tackling illegal motor parks and illegal street trading.
The FRSC boss stressed that the move would checkmate road congestion as well as ensure security on the roads.
He advised officials of the task force to discharge their functions properly in a bid to rid the city of Port Harcourt and its environs of disorderliness.
