Rivers governor, Nyesom Wike, has invited his Zamfara counterpart, Bello Mohammed Matawalle to Port Harcourt over the recent controversy surrounding a Mosque allegedly demolished in the south-south state.

Governor Matawalle revealed this on Monday, September 2 when he hosted some Islamic clerics to mark the beginning of the week long 100 days celebration of his administration

Matawalle and Wike are both of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Many Islamic scholars who attended the event spoke on the importance of peace and dialogue, the quality of the human being and the dangers of spilling human blood and urged people to continue to live peacefully with their neighbors irrespective of religion, skin colour, tribe or section.

On his part, Governor Matawalle called on people of the state to intensify prayers for the sustenance of peace in the state.

According to him, his administration emerged about 100 days ago following the intense prayers of the people for Allah to bring a leadership that would help end the terrible security situation and armed banditry facing the state coupled with poverty.

Matawalle said, it was the same prayers that helped the administration in finding lasting solution to the security challenges as well as other ways of improving the standards of living of the good people of the state.

The governor however lamented that the administration had identified some security agencies trying to create problem to these efforts which now requires more prayers from the citizenry even as he has taken measures in addressing the matter.

He maintained that his administration would not be distracted nor deterred by individuals of groups from pursuing the good things of life for its people and will remain focused in its effort to attain its set objectives.

Governor Wike had earlier described as unfortunate the trending information that his government demolished a Mosque in Port Harcourt, saying that the report was planted by mischief makers to create disaffection.

Addressing journalists at the location on Monday, August 25, Governor Wike said there was no Mosque on ground, hence nothing was demolished.
