ASAFEST 2019, Tool For Unity

The Executive Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Council, Chief Odiari .C. Princewill, has inaugurated the ASAFEST 2019 Central Working Committee to pilot the affairs of the upcoming event at Buguma City, headquarters of the local government council.

Chief Princewill while inaugurating the committee charged them to see ASAFEST 2019 as a tool to re-unite the people and also showcase the rich culture of Kalabari Kingdom.

He noted that the rich culture of the Kalabari people was worth celebrating and promoting by all men of goodwill.

The council boss enjoined members of the central working committee to strive to improve on the gains of the 2018 edition of the ASAFEST and come up with new innovations that will take the world by surprise.

He pointed out that Kalabari, a once vibrant ethnic nationality, seems to be losing grip of its culture and social relevance for some unexplainable reasons, saying that his administration is ready to revive the lost glory of the Kalabari people through cultural events like ASAFEST.

Thanking the Chairman the assignment committed into their hands, the Council’s Vice Chairman who is also the Chairman of the ASAFEST Central Working Committee, Hon. Alaso Johnbull Obi, on behalf of other members pledged their resolve to ensure that they put in their best for ASAFEST 2019 to be one of the best ever held.

Hon. Obi urged all members of the committee to see it as opportunity to contribute their quota towards promoting peace and unity and showcase the rich culture of the Kalabari kingdom.

The Central Working Committee comprises Kalabari Nollywood stars, media, artistes and sons and daughters in other departments of the entertainment industry.

Asari-Toru Festival, ASAFEST, will feature its second edition in December.
