Disquiet Over Discovery Of Missing Suspect In Police Custody

There is disquiet in the Eagle Crack Unit of the Rivers State Police Command over the discovery of a suspect Joshua Uche Brown Orukwo in their custody whom the unit had earlier claimed was never arrested.

National Network gathered that the suspect was arrested on Sunday 25th August, 2019 by policemen attacked to the unit at the Mile One Divisional Police Office located It was gathered that trouble started when the father of the suspect Pastor Moses A. Orukwo was called on phone by his son (suspect) that he was in the police custody but the commander of the police after going through his list informed the man that his son was never arrested.

Our source explained that the father who was very convinced that his son is being detained in their custody infirmed the spokes person of Rivers State Police Command DSP Omoni Nnamdi of his plight.

The source revealed that after the police spokesperson interfaced with the Commander of the Eagle Crack Unit, he was said to have also told the father of the boy that his son was never arrested.

The development triggered anxiety on the part of the boy’s father who, we learned petitioned the Commissioner of Police, CP Mustapha Dandaura.

In the meantime, a police source informed our reporter that the Commissioner of Police has ordered an investigation into the incident after it was discovered that the suspect whom the police claimed was never arrested was later found in their custody.

When contacted the father of the suspect confirmed to our reporter that he saw his son on the 11th of September, 2019 for the first time in the Eagle Crack Unit.

DSP Omoni Nnamdi had earlier said the suspect was never arrested by the police unit in his reaction to the issue.

He however did not respond to text messages sent to him neither did he pick calls put across to him on the repents of discovery of the suspect in the eagle crack unit.

As at press time, we learned some officers are being quizzed in police headquarters.
