OML 54 Host Communities Call Off Proposed Action Against NDPR

…Heed Deputy Speaker’s Advice

The host communities of OML 54 in Ahoada-East Local Government Area have agreed to put off the proposed protest which was aimed to Short down NDPR.

The President General of Upata Youth Council, Comrade Alali Justice Livingstone disclosed that their decision was as a result of the confidence they have in the State Government’s ability handle the matter .

Earlier, Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ehie Ogerenye Edison has called on Chiefs, Elders, Youths, Men and Women of the host communities of OML 54 ; Ogbele, Ubumeze, Oshuigboko not to embark on their proposed protest over marginalization since 2005 by Niger Delta Petroleum Resources (NDPR).

Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie had advised them to be calm since Governor is interested in the matter and assured them that the Assembly is doing its best to ensure every injustice is looked into and addressed amicably.

In a separate development, the lawmaker representing Ogu/Bolo Constituency, Hon. Evans Bipi has called on Federal Government to as a matter of urgency address the issue of high water tide that has submerged Ikpoama community in Of/Bolo Local Government Area.

He made the call shortly after visiting the area to ascertain the level of damage in the community and advised the affected people of his constituency to remain calm and be hopeful that the matter will be given property attention.
