Drama As 13-yr-Old Girl Says She Wants To Marry Man Arraigned For Defiling Her

There was a mild drama on Monday at Chief Magistrate Court 20 presided over by Chief Magistrate Gomba Osaro, Esq, as a 13-year-old girl said she wished to marry Mr Sunday Samuel arraigned by the Human Rights Desk of Rivers State Police headquarters, Moscow road on one count charge of having canal knowledge of her.

The underage girl also disclosed that she was four months pregnant allegedly for the accused and further alleged  the accused was her boyfriend.

In the meantime the accused was remanded in Port Harcourt  correctional centre and case was adjourned to 16th August 2021 for consideration of bail after he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The charge sheet read:  “That you Sunday Samuel on the 14th day of February at Ohakwe Street, Rumuigbo in Port Harcourt magisterial district did have unlawful carnal knowledge of one Blessing Uduak a girl underage of thirteen years and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 218 of criminal code of cap 37 Vol.11 laws of Rivers State 1999”.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In a related development, one Effiong Ekpenyong was remanded in Port Harcourt correctional centre after he pleaded not guilty to charge bordering on rape in the same Chief Magistrate Court 20 presided over by Chief Magistrate Gomba Osaro.

His case was adjourned to 12th August 2021.
