We’ve Drawn Up Operations Order  For Festive Season – Police

Rivers State Police Command has said it is prepared to provide security and prevent crime through deployment of its officers ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations saying it has drawn up operations order.

Police Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, who stated this in an interview on Monday said that the people of Rivers State would see increased police presence in the festive season.

DSP Omoni said: “We have drawn up our operations order for the season. Our operations order is a document that contains our deployments for the season in which case that order contains our deployment on the waterways, our deployment in the metropolis and our deployment in the hinterland. So, the people of Rivers State are going to witness increased police presence.

“We have covered religious houses, worship centres, fun centres, vulnerable points like banks (and) critical government infrastructure to ensure that there won’t be breach of the peace in these celebrations”.

He said that people of the state should be ready to celebrate Christmas and New Year without any fear that they would be molested.

The police imagemaker said what Rivers State Police Command has done as regards the forthcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations is such that will guarantee the safety of the people of the state in the festive season.

He warned troublemakers to stay out of trouble during the forthcoming celebrations saying that the Rivers State Police Command would deal with all criminal elements in the countdown to the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“Troublemakers have been warned to stay out of trouble otherwise they will face the music. We are going all out without sparing any effort to deal with all criminal elements in the state”, he said.

DSP Omoni said that there should be no cause for alarm saying that the people and residents of Rivers State should look forward to celebrating a peaceful Christmas and New Year celebration.

He said they should have confidence that the police are there for them as they prepare to celebrate Christmas and New Year saying that the police put necessary measures in place because it “anticipated the fact that criminals at this eleventh hour are going to be on the prowl”.
