Another Serial Killer On Prowl In Port Harcourt?

The startling news of the discovery of two female dead bodies at separate locations within the space of two weeks in Rivers State has left questions in the lips of residents.  Consequently, one big question now begging for answer is: Could there be another serial killer(s) on the prowl in the state?

Residents around the popular main gate of the Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo in Port Harcourt, the state capital, woke up on Tuesday, in shock as a lifeless body of a final year student of RSU, Miss Itonye Matilda Mark was discovered in her room.

Speculations are rife that she was stabbed while some others suggest she may have had a violent scuffle with rapists who may have strangled her after an unsuccessful attempt. 

The Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police command, Nnamdi Omoni told National Network that the police have commenced investigation into the incident with a view to apprehending those behind.

DSP Omoni also urged residents with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators, to report to the nearest Police Station.

On November 25, 2019 the dead body of one Miss Charity Ohaka, a native of Ogbakiri in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State was recovered from a well close to her house in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

The recovery of the body sparked civil unrest as hoodlums took advantage of the tensed atmosphere to vandalize properties and rob residents.

DSP Omoni while reacting to the incidence had told newsmen that two suspects were arrested in connection with the killing and that investigation was ongoing.

But unlike the cases of nine ladies whose dead bodies were recovered in different hotels in Port Harcourt, these latest female killings did not however, take place in the hotels, fuelling speculations of another serial killer with a different modus operandi.

With police investigations yet to reveal the motives behind this latest killings, there are insinuations that the women may have been killed by male assailant(s). With the arrest of suspected ritual killer, Gracious David West who is standing trial presently at a Port Harcourt High Court on charges of Murder, many would have thought that the mysterious death of e girls would have been a thing of the past.

In the meantime, some ladies who spoke to National Network explained that they need to apply caution in all their dealings following the recent development in the State.
