…As Eminent Personalities Pay Tributes
“Perfection is like an iron forge; it imbues its source with rugged grains of brushed steel”. In Mr. Ororowa O, Ebiowe who died fifteen years ago, it manifests like a rampart of trapping, albeit acquired character, there is no gainsaying that he lives a charmed life. Unlike too many of his peers, he recorded remarkable feats in his hey days, thus inciting ceaseless tributes to his citizenship of humanity.
On the 15th of December, 2019, the children and family of Late Ororowa O. Ebiowe celebrated the 15th Anniversary of the death of their late father at the 1st Baptist Church, Ovom, Yenagoa in Bayelsa State. The event attracted numerous guests from across the country who paid tributes to the great erudite scholar, teacher, renowned linguist principal and above all, masterpiece of intangible heritage of humanity.
At the church service, the officiating priests, led by Rev. Oyewumi Oladapo extolled the virtues of Ebiowe, and urge all to emulate his disciplinary roles in the society.
In his sermon topic, which is “Thanksgiving, Oladapo tasked Christians to imbibe the tenets of thanking the Creator for every situation, saying that thanking brings favour, victory, judgment on the enemies and also brings you out of oppression.
He drew his texts from the books of Ps. 149: 9 and Acts 16: 25, stressing that God delivers his people even at difficult times and trouble,
The eldest son of the Late Ebiowe, Air Commodore E. O. E. Ebiowe thanked God for the rapid progress in the family, most especially the remaining five (5) last children who graduated happily and for the preservation of their lives. He also thanked all the guests who came in from far and near to identify with the Ebiowes in the epoch memorial service of their father and prayed for journey mercy for all of them.
Speaking to our correspondent after the service, one of the children of the Late Ebiowe, Barr Mrs. Nyigaso Agbowei thanked all that attended the event, pointing out that her late father was a principle character of no mean standing, who raised them through the fear of the Lord and gave them sound moral teachings that eventually made them what they are today.
She promised to maintain his disciplinary roles towards her children and all living close to her, stressing also that her Late Dad brings clarity of purpose to work which is inspirational to many people in the society.
Many eminent personalities testified the good things Late Ororowa O. Ebiowe did while on planet earth. One of his students, Kenneth Awuru says his disciplinary measures are second to none, also describing him as a “father of punctuality”. “His early to work” attitude encouraged many students and teachers alike to start arriving their stations of work early. “This man we are paying tributes to made me what I am today because his guardianship and tutelage prepared me well for the future.
Seyeifa Seiabo, also his student said they were fortunate to have him as their pioneer principal who set a standard that catapulted them to successful careers. “We made good grades under him and we are proud because he is an excellent administrator”.
So many others poured tributes to this wonderful and sound administrator who created an enabling atmosphere with emphasis on his contribution to the promotion of education in Biseni, Bayelsa and Nigeria at large. Dr. Ogu, Dr. Gideon Atotu, Hon. David Obuma, Former member of Bayelsa State House of Assembly poured glowing tributes to the late man.
The wife, Joanna Dele Ebiowe and children thereafter treated guests to a reception in honour of their late father who contributed in no small measure to the upliftment of the educational standards of the people of Biseni and beyond.
