UNIJOS Alumni Honour Eze John Amadi, Others

The University of Jos Alumni Association (UJAA), Rivers State chapter, has honoured the Paramount Ruler of Rumuodara Community, HRH, Eze John Enyindah Amadi.

The association bestowed the award on him during their end-of-year party held at Rumuodara Town Hall on Saturday December 21, 2019.

Mr. Tonye Dagogo, Chairman University of Jos Alumni Association, Rivers State said the honour was bestowed on Eze Enyindah Amadi because of his contributions to the well-being of the association in the State. He said Eze Amadi had committed a lot to the association, stressing that he donated the venue they were using for their meetings free-of charge.

Eze John Amadi graduated from University of Jos in 1989 and was inducted into the association some months back.

Honoured along with Eze Amadi were Rev. Cannon Chuka Okpara, Mr. Ojo, Dr. Karibi George of Universal Basic Education (UBE), Rivers State and a host of other alumni.

Speaking at the event which also featured a lecture on security, chairman, UJAA, Rivers State, Mr. Tonye Dagogo, enumerated the association’s achievements, which include church activities it organized and the association’s full participation in the programmes of the International Literacy Day.

He, however, decried poor attendance of meetings by members, but stressed that events like the end of year party would encourage people to attend.

National President of University of Jos Alumni Association, Idris Yakubu solilicited financial support from branches to complete the projects the association embarked on at the institution. “We intend to complete the projects before we leave office next year,” he said.

He disclosed that the association has up to 25 chapters, but that some were not active, adding that they planned to reactivate the non-active ones. He said Rivers chapter is more active than other branches and commended Eze John Amadi for contributing to making it stronger.

Eze John Amadi was the host for the end of year party.
