Randy Cult Leader In Police Net Over Rival’s Death

A suspected leader of the Icelander cult group has been arrested by the Rumuolumeni Police Station eight months after he and gang members allegedly murdered one Uchenna Martins at Eagle Cement Road in Iwofe in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

National Network gathered that the suspected cult leader, who is simply identified as ‘Young’, was arrested on Wednesday for his alleged role in the death of Martins whom he accused of snatching his girlfriend.

 According to a source, Young was apprehended while on another operation in the area. The gang leader reportedly confessed to the Police that he and his gang were responsible for the killing of Uchenna Martins on 4th April 2019 because, “they suspected he had snatched the female lover of the cult leader”.

Our source explained that the suspect while narrating how their victim was killed revealed that he and his gang members allegedly laid ambush for the victim while he was on his way home after visiting the lady in contention.

The source added that the cult leader and his gang members ‘used sticks and iron rods to hit the victim until he passed out and they abandoned him at the road side’.

The victim, according to our source who would not want his name in print for the safety of his life, was later taken to the hospital by the Police where he was confirmed dead.

It was further gathered that the lady at the tragic drama allegedly fled the community when the news of the death of Martins who hails from Ebonyi State broke out.

Our source further revealed that the lady have not been seen in the area after Uchenna’s death.

A family member of the deceased, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the arrest of the suspect to our reporter.

Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nnamdi Omoni, did not return calls put across to him neither did he respond to text messages sent to him by our reporter on enquiry into the incident.

However, a Police source at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Rivers State Police command confirmed the incident adding that the suspect has been transferred from Rumuolumeni Police Station to SCID for further investigations pending his arraignment in court.

Meanwhile report say two other members of the gang who participated in the killing of the victim are said to have been remanded in Port Harcourt prison following their participation in another violent crime.
