…Pledges Support, Loyalty
The people of Azumini Community in Isiokpo, headquarters of Ikwerre Local Govt Area of Rivers State recently trooped out in their large numbers to their market square and crowned Eze Kingsley Chukwunyere Ogundu with chieftaincy title of Oyo the 8th’ of Azumini.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the coronation ceremony, Eze Kingsley Ogundu said he will do everything humanly possible to take the community to the next stage of development by striving to sustain the existing peace and unity in the area.
He extolled the sterling leadership qualities of Nye- Nwe-Ali of Isiokpo ancient kingdom, His Eminence, King Blessing Wagor (JP) as well as Isiokpo Council of Chiefs, adding that, as a new Eze in their midst, he will join hands to work towards upholding the rich cultural heritage of the people and advised the youths to remain law-abiding at all times.
Earlier in an interview, Ikwerre Local Government Council Chairman, Hon Samuel Nwanosike and his Obio/Akpor Counterpart, Hon. Solomon Abel Eke observed that Eze Kingsley Ogundu deserved the honour because of his track record of achievements in various spheres of life, noting that, before now he had given employment to so many youths in the area as well as managed to resolve long standing communal issues, stressing that he is also a grassroots man loved by his people.
In their separate remarks, former youth leaders of the Area, comrades Emmanuel Nwankwo and Kelechi Ogundu noted that the Eze-elect is a philanthropist Par excellence who has left footprints on the sands of time and commended the community for choosing a right leader, positing that Eze Ogundu has brought relief to so many families in Azumini through his kind and humane disposition and wished him successful reign on the throne.
The event was attended by some notable personalities including former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Sir Austin Opara, Chief of Staff, Govt House, Engr. Emeka Woke, former Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Nengesi, Traditional Rulers, Captains of Industry, Elders, youths among others.
