Council Boss Declares Support For Asalga Legionnaires
The Executive Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area (ASALGA), Chief Odiari C. Princewill has declared that his administration would remain committed to the welfare of the members of Nigerian Legion in the LGA.
The council boss gave the assurance during this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem Appeal Launching on Thursday, January 9, 2020 IN Buguma headquarters of the LGA.
He said that his administration will continue to support legionnaires and the families of war heroes who paid Supreme price in course of defending the country, noting that legionnaires demonstrated love to the Nation’s unity therefore their immense contributions cannot be neglected.
Chief Princewill also announced the donation of cash gift to the Asari-Toru local government chapter of Nigerian Legion and promised to do more whenever necessary.
The chairman of Nigeria Legion Asalga Chapter Major Amoniya Amachree appreciated the Executive Chairman for acknowledging their efforts in the promotion of peace and unity.
According to Major Amachree, the Council Boss is doing his best to alleviate their standard of living in consonance with his executive council but it is not enough. Therefore solicited for more support from other respected indigenes in the local government area, the chiefs, clergies, captains of industries and civil society organizations.
He explained that the main reason for the launching of the emblem popularly called “poppy” after the 2nd World War is to raise fund to cushion the harsh and unfriendly challenges faced by the veterans, especially those whose bread winners who volunteered themselves for the great sacrifice and in the process lost their lives.
