Natives Finger OSPAC In Killings, Destruction Of Houses In Ikwerre Community
There is war of words between OSPAC, a local vigilante group in Egbeda,Emohua local Government Area of Rivers State and some natives of the community over the killing and destruction of houses which took place last Friday.
A native of the community who gave his name as Harmony Chukwu, in a chat with National Network accused OSPAC of killing his aged father, and destroying their house without provocation.
According to him, OSPAC came in search of his brother whom they accused of being member of Icelander cult group that launched attack in the community and killed a suspected Deygbam cult leader and three innocent persons.
Harmony alleged that following the attack,OSPAC invaded his compound and shot his father dead.
According to him,his younger brother of eleven years who saw the OSPAC members was the person who used his late father’s mobile phone to call him and his elder ones and informed them of the development.
He further alleged that OSPAC also killed two women and another man whom the security outfit accused their children of taking part in the first attack.
Mr Harmony said the Police station in the community allegedly prevented them from making a formal complaint about the matter.
When contacted, a member of the OSPAC, aka ‘Thunder,’ whom Harmony accused of leading OSPAC in the attack denied the allegation.
‘Thunder’ told our reporter that OSPAC does not engage in extrajudicial killings and reprisal attacks.
The spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni when contacted, said the Police cannot stop a complainant from reporting a matter in the station and advised Harmony to go back to the station and call him if the Police would not allow him to make an entry.
As at press time tension was high in Egbeda Community over the development.
