Wives Of Missing Bille Youths Call On Police To Produce Husbands, Or Else…
The Wives of the missing Bille Youths, Mrs Songo Gift Dein and Mrs Emilia Johnbull have called on the Nigeria Police especially the Anti Cultism Unit in Port-Harcourt, to produce their husbands, Mr. Taminotonye Johnson Dein and Mr. Endurance Johnbull or be ready to face the wrath of Bille people.
Speaking with newsmen in Port-Harcourt at the weekend, the distressed wives said they had practically searched all the known police cells in Port-Harcourt on daily basis for their loved ones without success, adding that one thing they are sure is that “our husbands were part of the twelve (12) young men arrested by the Anti-Cultism Unit of the police on that fateful day in the presence of our delegates on a peace mission before the fracas and so they can`t deny involvement or that they are not in their custody“
Mrs Johnbull lamented that it is obvious from the police`s body language and also from their antecedents, that it is possible was the missing youths torture in the police custody.
The women however said they would stop at nothing to ensure that justice is done in the matter, adding that the matter will not be swept under the carpet.
How can we be made widows within two months of our marriage under controversial circumstance just like that? One of the them cried.
You will recall that Bille Kingdom in Degema Local Government Area and Krakrama Community in Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State had disagreement over sharing formula on proceeds from oil facility in their area which is before the court of law for determination. But because of skirmishes constantly witnessed between both parties, Secretary to the Rivers State Government intervened and invited them for settlement on the issue four weeks ago.
We learnt that during the peace mission, the youths engaged themselves in violent attacks which forced the SSG to invite the police into the matter.
But what baffled people of Bille Kingdom was when the arrested youths were charged to court, with two of them missing and when asked, the police denied knowing anything about them.
