Bishop Abere Assures BSN of Support
The Bishop of Dioceses of Okrika Anglican, Rt Rev Tubo Abere has assured the leadership of the Bible Society of Nigeria Rivers/Bayelsa Area of his continued support.
Bishop Abere gave this indication when the Executives of the Area paid a courtesy visit to him at Okrika, headquarters of Okrika Local Government Area in Rivers State.
The Bishop lauded the laudable programmes of BSN in the propagation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the area of the translation of the Bible into indigenous languages.
He also noted with pleasure the society efforts to make the Bible available to millions of Nigeria.
Bishop Abere promised that he will continue to advises churches within the Diocese to cooperate with BSN to achieve its aims and objectives.
The Pioneer Bishop of the Okrika Dioceses further promised to take more active part in the programmes and activities of the Society.
Earlier, the Area Chairman, Elder Omoni Ayo-Tamuno had briefed the Bishop on the activities and programmes of BSN.
Elder Ayo Tamuno explained that the visit was one of the programmes of the Area to carry out advocacy visits to Church Heads within the area to report our activities to them.
He commended the Bishop for being in the fore front of supporting the Society in its programmes.
The Chairman thanked the Bishop and the Diocese for the unique hosting of the Southern Zonal Meeting held in his Cathedral and for his readiness to host the society anything he is called upon.
The Bishop was also intimated about the Write and Build For God, the Bible Week Celebration, using the Bible as gift item customised during special occasion and requested that the BSN be vividly mentioned in his hand over note to who ever that will succeed him.
Highlights of the visit was presentation of the 2018 BSN Report, calendars, leaflets of Project WABFOG and Sower Magazine.
