Principal ‘Builds’ Toilets For Bodo City Girls

…Attributes Achievement To Wike’s Empowerment

Students at Bodo City Girls Secondary School, Bodo in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State on Thursday, March 13, 2020 had cause to jubilate as their long awaited expectation to use modern convenience in the school became a reality.

This followed the commissioning of a set of toilet facilities ‘built’ for them by the management of the junior section of the school, under the leadership of its principal, Elder Nafor Tombari.

Applauses and commendations grew beyond the school environment to surrounding communities for the principal as students sang and danced excitedly while the brief but exciting commissioning ceremony lasted.

The Principal of Bodo City Girls Junior Secondary School (BCGJSS), Presiding Elder Nafor Tombari told journalists that the absence of such a valuable facility, especially in a reputable female school had remained a great headache to him, his staff and management.

His words: “Let me sincerely inform the public that by this little achievement, we have solved one major problem we prayed for solution in our resolve to provide conducive learning atmosphere for our students”

“Luckily, the emergence of Barrister Nyesome Wike as governor of the state brought the solution to this problem under his education friendly policies through provision of imprest to schools for administrative and developmental programmes” he said.

The soft spoken but articulate school head and Elder of The Apostolic Church (TAC) Nigeria, Maritime Territory, disclosed that imprest provided by the governor enabled him to engage technicians who renovated and painted a building that was long abandoned, purchased necessary equipments including a sizeable generator to pump water, among other things and successfully had the project in place for the convenience of both students and staff.

Elder Nafor Tombari appreciated Governor Wike for his concern towards educational development at all level in the state and called for public support for his administration to achieve set goals.

He also acknowledged the moral support he received from the BCGJSS PTA and the School’s Based Management Committee (SBMC) who had some of their members and Clergies present at the event.

A senior journalist and public commentator in Rivers State, Comrade Alloy Khenom who is the Public Relations Officer of SBMC at BCGJSS described the achievement by Presiding Elder Nafor as unique, rare and deserving appreciation from the state government, considering the fact that through Nafor’s achievement, members of the public have come to know that Governor Wike provides imprest and necessary logistics to school heads who arguably refuse to transfer such gestures into any tangible or verifiable action.

A retired supervisor of Education in Gokana Local Government Area, Mr. Barizaa Lah Orbala performed the commissioning ceremony, while the Education Supervising Director in Gokana Local Government Education Authority, Kpor, Mrs. Kartey Glory could not attend due to another important official engagement.
