We’re After Those Circulating Drugs, Says NDLEA

The Rivers State Command of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has said that it is always after those who circulate drugs in the state to stop their operations.

Public Relations Officer of NDLEA, Mr Emmanuel Ogbumgbada, who spoke on behalf of the State Commander, said the agency always tries to stop the operations of those who circulate drugs so they would not continue to harm those who take the drugs.

Ogbumgbada said: “For those who circulate (drugs), our operations are always to find a way to stop them from circulating because as they do that they continue to harm (those who are) addicted (to drugs)”.

He said drug dealers usually get supplies from outside the state but noted the agency usually gathers intelligence to identify those who could be distributing drugs.

The Public Relations Officer said: “Most of these drugs are actually not manufactured here in Rivers State (and at the moment) there’s restriction at the border of Rivers State, so how do they bring these drugs in? There’s lockdown at the border of Rivers State, so if for instance cannabis does not enter Rivers State then they won’t have cannabis to distribute, but for us we are not keeping quiet. We are still gathering intelligence so that if we identify any dealer that is still circulating the drugs we might go in and see how we can curb that”.

He said those who circulate drugs would be out of stock and there would be no drugs to circulate.

He said that there were two types of drug offenders – those who sell and those who consume – saying that drugs would continue to harm those who consume.

He said despite the lockdown, the state Command of the NDLEA as essential agency would be open.

Ogbumgbada said the agency would be open to also respond to any kind of emergency.
