Okporo Okwurusi Kingdom Sets Up Local Task Force To Fight COVID-19 Spread

Following the directives of the Rivers State government on the closure of community markets, night Clubs, bars, fast food, eateries, beer parlours/pubic drinking joints and street trading; the Okporo/Okwurusi Kingdom has risen to the task of enforcing compliance on the people.

In line with the said directive, the Paramount Ruler/Nyenweli Okporo/Okwurusi Kingdom, HRH, King Morgan Nwenenda Amadi, Ksc, (JP), Eze Oha Okporo Okwurusi Kingdom in Obio/Akpor LGA of the State has constituted a local taskforce to enforce the fight against the disease.

The members of the taskforce team included Barr. Evans I. Amadi – Chairman; Hon. Samuel Nwanwa – Ward Councillor, member; DSP Surajo A. Baita – S.O., Rep. DPO. Okporo division, Alternate Chairman; Barr. Promise W. Iwezor – CDC Chairman; Mgbuesilaru Community – Member; Comrade Solomon A. Amadi, CDC Secretary, Mgbuesilaru Community, member; Comrade Kingsley O. Nwanwa, youth president, Mgbuesilaru Community, member, Chief Martins Ogbugo, CDC Chairman, Rumuodara Community, member; Prince Chima Amaechule Amadi – CDC secretary Rumuodara Community, member and Comrade Frank Weli – Youth President, Rumuodara Community, member.

Others were Comrade Johnson Nnata Ordu – CDC Chairman, Eliowhani community, member; Mr. Nyebuchi Nte Elewa – CDC secretary, Eliowhani Community, member; Mr. Okechukwu Omahi, president, Eliowhani Community, member; Mr. Goodwill Darlington Ogbondah Chinwo, Taskforce community secretary; Comrade Chima E. Amadi, Social media lead communication; Mr. Fortune Onukem – social media deputy lead communication; Nenry Nyemeruema Ohia Chukwu, president, Okporo Okwurusi youth; Lady Christy Onukem, president Okporo Okwurusi Women; and Cecilia Barry Amaehule Elewa, president, Okporo Okwurusi daughters.

The taskforce committee was asked to work in coordination with the various community Eze’s in Okporo Okwurusi Kingdom including Eze Hon. Ken O. Iwezor, Mgbuesilaru Community; Eze John E. Amadi, Rumuodara Community; Eze Nsirim A. Nwoka and Eze Adul Omachi, Eliowhani Community.

Inaugurating the task force committee, the Okporo Okwurusi paramount ruler, Eze Morgan Amadi charged them to go round the three communities sensitizing them and ensuring total compliance of the sit-at-home directives of the Rivers State government while observing the precautionary measures to avoid the spread of the pandemic decease.
