As the Coronavirus Pandemic rages on, a Consortium of Oil Servicing Companies under the aegis of Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) has donated relief materials to Rumuodara Community in a bid to cushion the effect of the sit-at-home order by the state and federal governments.
PETAN whose members included Laser Engineering, Wellopt, Jocaro Nig Ltd, Chakrin Maritime and a host of others are tenants to Rumuodara community.
Presenting the materials which include, 20 bags of rice, 5 bags of garri, 5 bags of beans, 50 cartons of Indomie and 20 cartons of tomatoe paste at the Palace of the Paramount Ruler of Rumuodara Community, HRH, Eze John Enyindah Amadi, the Managing Consultant of PETAN, Prof. Mike Onyekonwu of Laser Engineering, said they had come to show love and care to Rumuodara Community for being a good landlord this time they need it most.
He said, he hopes the little gesture would help cushion the sufferings of the people as a result of the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.
Prof. Onyekonwu urged the Paramount Ruler and his Chiefs to ensure that the items get to those for whom they were brought.
In his response, the Paramount Ruler of Rumuodara Community, HRH, Eze John Enyindah Amadi thanked PETAN immensely for the good gesture, saying they were the first among the companies operating in Rumuodara to send such relief materials to the people.
He promised that the food items would be distributed to those for whom they were meant and according to the directive of PETAN.
Those who received the items with the Rumuodara Paramount Ruler are: Eze Emmanuel Chinwo – Head, Rumuchuku Family, Chief Samuel Amadi – Head, Rumuokeke Family and High Chief Martins Ogbugo – CDC Chairman, Rumuodara Community. Also, Morgan Chinwo, a former CDC Chairman of the community was present.
On the entourage of Prof. Mike Onyekonwu, Managing Consultant PETAN, were Uko Akpatang – MD Wellopt, Dominic Okafor – MD Jocaro Nig. Ltd and Sir Godwin Okanu – representative of Chakrin Maritime.
Speaking to newsmen after the presentation, Eze John Amadi appealed to the government to adopt a holistic approach in containing the pandemic, stressing that it should convert health centres and community Town Halls as testing centres.
He said those found to be infected should be sent for treatment at isolation centres, adding that those free of the virus should be issued certificates which should be presented to the authorities before they transact business in the state.
Eze Amadi commended Governor Wike for the proactive measures he has adopted in fighting the virus in Rivers State.
