Oforji Extends Palliatives To Orphanage Homes
…Urges Others To Do Same
The Executive Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon Prince Gerald Oforji (JP) in his usual magnanimity and show of concern to the downtrodden in the society has deemed it fit to extend his hands of fellowship to the orphanage and motherless babies homes to cushion the effect of the sit-at-home order occasioned by the need to stop the coronavirus spread.
Speaking with newsmen during a visit to Holy Trinity Motherless babies and orphanage home, Obama over the weekend with his family, the council boss said it was good and rewarding for people to remember the less privileged in the society, more so at this coronavirus lockdown.
“They found themselves here on no fault of theirs and so it is necessary for public spirited individuals and corporate bodies to remember this vulnerable groups especially in times like this,” he stated.
He made it known that one do not have to own the whole world before extending hands of fellowship to other less fortunate ones around him.
Prince Oforji disclosed further that his determination to reach out to the grassroots formed his decision to personally shared the palliatives to the people he met randomly on the streets of Oyigbo recently, considering their vulnerability.
“The same reason formed my decision to consider reaching out to all the orphanage and motherless babies homes in the area with relief materials in order to cushion the effect of the lockdown order as hunger knows no boundaries”, he said.
He used the opportunity to appeal to them to observe all the precautionary measure, and simple personal hygiene in order for them not to contact the dreaded disease.
The items donated to the home included bags of rice, bags of beans, bags of garri, tubers of yams, cartons of Indomie noodles and other additives as well as some cash.
Some appointed children from the home in their separate speeches thanked the council chairman for considering their welfare too at this critical time, pointing out that the gesture was out of pure love of the chairman for them. They prayed for his good health and divine wisdom to continue serving the people diligently to the glory of God.
Highlight of the event was the special prayer session offered for members of the Oforji family.
