Rundele Monarch Lauds Wike Over Effort On COVID-19

The Paramount Ruler/Nnenweli Rundele Community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, HRH, Eze Kpanikwu, has commended Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for what he said was the proactive measures he put in place to contain the spread of the dreaded coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking with newsmen in his palace at Rundele over the weekend, the monarch said the governor has indeed demonstrated leadership and capacity.

According to him, “Gov Wike was the first governor in the country to not only lockdown the state for the residents to stay-at-home but went ahead to close the state borders to contain the spreal of the disease”.

The monarch also commended the governor for considering palliatives for the people when he observed that the sit-at-home order is biting harder on the hungry residents, adding that this indeed is worthy of emulation.

He thanked all those who have in one way or the other  followed the governor’s footsteps by supporting the state government with palliatives to the residents.

He used the opportunity to thank God who has been faithful to the people of Rivers State, pointing out that the resultant effect of the lockdown is only the handwork of God.

“In Rundele Community, we followed up the government’s directives by raising up a  committee to sensitize and distribute sanitizers to the people and also informed the residents on the need to observe all the precautionary measures  of government for them to stay alive.”

Eze Kpanikwu disclosed that his council of chiefs is also considering supporting the state government’s palliatives to the council area with their own too, in order to augment whatever is due them. “In our own small way, we are going to donate something to cushion the effect of the pandemic on our people”, he said.

He equally commended Governor Wike for building and equipping hospitals as well as isolation centres, all in a concerted effort to ensure that Rivers people stay alive.

Eze Kpanikwu used the opportunity to appeal to Rivers people and residents to persevere a little more under the pains of the lockdown order, advising that only one that is alive can think of food and progress, adding that the scourge will come and go like all others before it.
