Peace Returns To Kegbara Dere As New Exco Is Constituted

Peace is said to have returned to Kegbara Dere Community in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State after a long period of unease and fear occasioned by crises and cult related cases.

The incessant crises in the area had stalled social life and business activities in the area, a development that had given the Paramount Ruler of the community, Chief Fabian Gberesuu some sleepless nights.

The Paramount Ruler, the good people of the community and those doing business in the area can now heave a sigh of relief for the prevailing peace in the area.

Accusing fingers were pointed at some former members of the Council of Chiefs and Elders who were said to be feeding fat from the crises.

Sequel to the return of peace in the community, a new Council of Chief and Elders headed by Chief Dominic Tegbo has been put in place to oversee the affairs of the community and help consolidate and sustain the prevailing peace in the area.

The new exco of the Council of Chiefs and Elders of Kagbara Dere Community includes: Chief Dominic Tegbo (Chairman), Rev. Jonathan Kelenwin (Vice Chairman) and Chief Lekie Gboro (Secretary), Dr. Wisdom Girigiri (Chairman, CDC), Nubari D. Baadom (CDC Secretary), Chief Chaplain David Fuubel (President Town Conference), Evang. Godwin Needom (Secretary Town Conference) whereas Ibrahim G. N. Gbai is the Youth President.

In his speech, Chief Dominic Tegbo, Chairman Council of Chiefs and Elders observed that in the last three weeks or more, there has been relative peace in K. Dere unlike what the community had experienced in recent times.

He pointed out that all and sundry in the village are happy because the paramount ruler actually did a wide consultation before appointing them into office to serve and they are ready to ensure the trust, respect and regard given to them would not be betrayed as already the template for development to thrive in K Dere is being designed.

Further, Meebari Nuteh who spoke on behalf of the Community Development Committees (CDC) lauded the Paramount Ruler, Chief Fabian Gberesuu for his foresight and decision to dissolve the former exco because of the infighting that characterized the former executives and constituting a replacement.

The Gokana Local Government Area is said to have given its support to the constitution of the new exco as well as the youth body of the community.
