Eleme Council Boss Talks Tough As Task Force Arrests 12 Hoteliers, Drinking Palour Operators

In his efforts to curtail the spread of COVID-19, the Executive Chairman of Eleme Local Government, Hon Barr Philip Philip Okparajii has reiterated the State Government’s directive on the closure of hotels, drinking parlours and restaurants, and warned the owners of such businesses to strictly obey government’s directive.

The Chairman who said this while addressing newsmen in Onne where the Eleme Local Government Council Taskforce on enforcement of COVID 19 directives and policies by the state government arrested 12 owners of hotels, drinking parlours and restaurants for flouting the order by operating their businesses further explained that no responsible government will fold its hands and tolerate a situation where laws of the state are flouted with impunity and disobedience.

He urged the traditional ruler, youths and other stakeholders of Onne to call owners of such businesses to order as government will not fail to take the necessary action by prosecuting such culprits.

Meanwhile, he commended the team leader, Elder Clifford Isibor, security agents and other members of the Eleme Council Taskforce for their unrelenting efforts to ensure compliance to the state government directive to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the area.
