Pandemonium In Rumuodara Over Death Of Task Force Member

There was pandemonium on Tuesday morning at Okporo/Rumuodara and East/West Road in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State following the death of a personnel of Tricycle (Keke) Operators Task Force, simply identified as Clement.

National Network gathered that one Kelvin, a Keke task force personnel who hails from Edo State reportedly used machete to inflict injury on the deceased who was his colleague following disagreement over money sharing last Sunday.

We gathered that the suspect was arrested after the incident while the victim was taken to hospital where he died.

Our source revealed that sympathizers and relatives of the deceased took to the streets on Tuesday in protest when they got news of the death. The protest became violent as hoodlums hijacked the process and started to unleash mayhem on people.

Our source said it took the intervention of the Okporo Police Station at Rumuodara and SARS to bring the situation under control. We also learned that some persons were arrested.

Confirming the incident, Youth President of Rumuodara, Frank Weli, said he informed the Police on hearing the protest.

He dissociated youths of the community from any destruction while saying that hoodlums wanted to take advantage of the situation to cause mayhem but were stopped by the police.

National Network also gathered that the suspect was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation.

Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni ,was yet to respond to inquiry into the incident.
