Landlord On The Run Over Death Of Tenant
A landlord of a building located at Chukwudani, off Okporo Road, Rumuodara, Obi/Akpor Local Government area of Rivers State simply identified as Mr Promise is said to be on the run over death of his tenant simply identified as Jonathan.
We learned that trouble started when the landlord went to demand five hundred naira light bill from the tenant.
We gathered that an argument ensued which led to a fracas between the tenant and the landlord.
The landlord was said to have lifted up Mr Jonathan and threw him to the ground which led to his sustaining injury on his spinal cord.
Our source disclosed that Mr Jonathan was rushed to hospital and stayed there till last week Saturday when he gave up the ghost.
Relatives of the deceased were said to have mobilized to Mr Promise’s compound to burn down the building but the timely intervention of the Okporo Community Youths calmed down the situation.
A relative of the deceased, Mr Newton, confirmed the incident on telephone with our reporter. He added that the matter has been reported to the police.
Meanwhile a police source confirmed that the matter is being investigated by Okporo Police Station while efforts are on to arrest the fleeing suspect with a view to bringing him to justice.
The President of Rumuodara Youth Association, Frank Weli, confirmed the incident but declined further comments.
