A non- governmental organization Civil Societies On Scaling Up Nutrition In Nigeria (CS-SUNN) has commenced a campaign for the approval of multi -sectoral plan of action for Nutrition in all states of the nation.
The campaign which took place on CS-SUNN Twitter handle in compliance with the social distancing protocol took into consideration the multidisciplinary and multisectoral nature of nutrition.
According the statement on the organization’s Twitter handle the multisectoral plan of action for nutrition is intended to guide the implementation of nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive interventions and programmes by all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) at state level.
It further disclosed that the goal of the plan is to attain optimal nutritional status for Nigerians through accelerating the scaling up of priority high impact nutrition interventions adding that it is also aimed at creating the enabling environment for improved nutrition, with focus on the most vulnerable especially women and children as well as internally displaced persons.
Calling on State Governments to domesticate the National Multi-sectoral Plan of Action for Nutrition and develop their State Specific Plans the statement stated that the campaign provided an opportunity for CS-SUNN to present key targets, strategic focus areas, objectives, expected outcomes.
The campaign also outlined the benefits of the state specific nutrition plans while providing all nutrition partners and stakeholders an avenue to advocate for the approval and implementation of the plan by state governments.
