NYCN Inaugurates Chapter In Egbeda Community
…As Youth President, Ovumgba Gets Confidence Vote
History was made in Egbeda Community of Emohua Local Government Area last Saturday following the inauguration of a chapter of the National Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
Although splashed with pomp, the event was however marked in low key, no thanks to Covid-19 pandemic which forced organizers to allow only a select few into the venue. Amid strict compliance to the state government’s guidelines on social and physical distancing, use of face masks and regular washing of hands with alcohol-based hand sanitizers, dignitaries and invited guests graced the event to leave lasting memories.
Present at the event was the Coordinator of NYCN in Emohua Local Government Area, Ambassador Innocent Woke as well as his counterparts from Abua/Odual and Ikwerre Local Government Areas; Egbeda Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman, Mr. Bartholomew Osah and other stakeholders from the area.
Receiving the dignitaries whose first assignment was the commissioning of the NYCN signpost constructed by the President of Egbeda Youth Council, Comrade Friday Ovumgba, the CDC Chairman, who represented the Paramount Ruler and Nyenweli Egbeda Nu Ubimini, Eze Christopher Nlerum Didia, said he is astonished at what he saw and expressed confidence that the Comrade Ovumgba led Youths Council would take Egbeda to a greater precinct.
Youths Presidents from the twelve villages that made up Egbeda Community were presented with certificate of inauguration and they include: Chukwuma Otugbuali (Obohia), Chidiebere Orji (Ebegu), Chinonye Ogbuagu (Amapu), Prince Omah (Imanyi) and Cyprian Uzobo (Ibonimere) among others.
In their charges to the youths presidents, the NYCN Coordinators advised them to be above board and live by examples, noting that the bad eggs in their midst have created a bad image about the youths and urged them to reverse the trend.
“You must be reminded that the youths are the leaders of tomorrow and greatest in number in any society. Don’t let them do anything that will throw the community into chaos. You must be law abiding and support the good efforts of your President, Comrade Friday Ovumgba”, counselled Mr. Innocent Woke.
In his response, Egbeda Youths President, Comrade Friday Ovumgba thanked all invitees for honouring the event and pledged to put in his best to achieve the laudable objectives of the council.
He expressed confidence in the ability and capability of the youths presidents from all twelve villages. He also assured that the leaders would be transparent and live according to the constitution of the NYCN.
“We would work in synergy with security agencies and report illicit activities to law enforcement agencies”, Ovumgba declared.
Speaking on behalf of all those inaugurated, the Youth President of Obohia village, Comrade Chukwuma Otugbuali thanked the central youths President of Egbeda Community and NYCN for giving them opportunity to serve.
