B/Dere Natives Cry For Justice For Slain Kinsmen

Natives of B/Dere Community in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State have called on the Police and the State Government to ensure  the arrested deadly Deygbam cultist ‘Kill And Bury’ and his lieutenant who allegedly killed and buried three indigenes of the community at a forest in Bera community do not escape justice.

Natives who did not want their names in print in an interview with our reporter disclosed that it will be very dangerous for the community if the suspects who have been terrorising the community did not face justice.

The natives expressed concern that some arrested cultists under circumstances that are not clear to the community find their way back after some time. They called on the Police and the Government to ensure justice is done and seen to be done.

Meanwhile the spokesperson of Rivers State Police Command, DSP, Nnamdi Omoni in an interview with our reporter at the scene of the crime stated that justice will be served in the matter. DSP Omoni explained that the three deceased victims Baridomale Sunday Tor, Baridon Gbarabera Asah, Barisiton Nawee were declared missing on 14th of March, 2020.

DSP Omoni disclosed that report was made to the Police about the incident and following discreet investigation by the men of Anti-Cultism commander, Rivers State Police command the main suspect Barididum Danaa aka  ‘ kill and bury ‘ was arrested and his confession led to the arrest of another member of the group.

In an interview with newsmen at the scene of the crime,  the Deygbam cult leader, said he was not among the people who killed the young men but admitted that his gang members were responsible. He also confessed belonging to a Deygbam cult group and also an illegal oil bunkerer.

A community chief in B/Dere, Nkah Baribe, told journalists that available information suggest the cultists killed the victims because they accused them of giving  information to security agencies that led to arrest of some members of the gang. Our correspondent reports that three corpse which had decomposed were exhumed by the Police.
