Okporo, Okwurusi Monarch Commends Police Over Advisory Committee

The Paramount Ruler and Eze Ohna Okporo Okwurusi Kingdom in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, His Majesty, Eze Morgan Amadi has said that traditional Institution in the state will throw its weight behind the policing advisory committee policy of the Nigerian Police.

He stated this during the inauguration of the committee at the Okporo Police Division on Monday 27th July, 2020, adding  that the kingdom is much concern about the security of lives and property in the area hence the need for the traditional rulers to support the concept to achieve its desired objectives.

Represented by the paramount ruler of Rumuodara Community, Eze John Amadi, the monarch said the peaceful coexistence of all and sundry must be the paramount concern of everybody.

He used the opportunity to commend the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu for the initiatives in the fight against crime and criminality, assuring that his Kingdom would continue to support the security agencies in their assignment.

He also promised that the committee will endeavour to live above board to justify the confidence reposed in them.

In his remarks, the Executive chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State Hon. Solomon Eke advised the newly inaugurated committee to take their assignment seriously.

Eke who was represented by the Ward II councilor, Hon Samuel Nwanu said the fight against crime must be collective, advising the committee to desist from taking laws into their hands in course of their duties.

He thanked the Okporo Divisional Police Officer (DPO) SP. Etete Blaise for living up to expectation, urging him to work harder to achieve set goal.

Earlier, the Okporo Division of Police Community Relation Committee Chairman, Mazi Ijeoma Nkem said the responsibility on the committee is no mean feat, but assured total support to the police to fight crime to a standstill.

He disclosed further that what is important is a collaborative effort from the public especially in the sharing of information.

The chairman of the Advisory Committee assured all of delivering in their assignment.

The DPO, SP Etete used the opportunity to thank the IGP for the initiative which he noted, will assist in curbing crime at the grassroots.
