Rivers NDE Coordinator Seeks Support

In a bid to tackle unemployment and poverty, the Rivers State Coordinator of National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Mr. Alfred Udoh has appealed to good spirited Nigerian to support and cooperate with NDE to enable them turn the desire of the unemployed people into reality.

Mr. Udoh who made the appeal recently in a chat with newsmen in his office in Port Harcourt, said the Rivers State NDE needs support and he wants good Nigerians and the international donors to cooperate with the organization.

“Our challenges are many.  There is no availability of land for officials and participants of NDE to operate and cultivate.  More often than not, we don’t have access to land.  Second, reaching out to the participants and solving their problems”, Udoh said.

He stated that the officials of NDE in Rivers State have been fair and just to the participants and beneficiaries of their programmes, adding that they have been careful in the area of publicity.

“There is no NDE programmes we don’t publish.  In fact, anytime we want to do any recruitment we publish it.  Besides, in as much as we do our publicity, we have to be careful because of the high level of unemployment in the country as well as ensure that job seekers do not invade the programme”, he said.

Mr. Udoh explained that NDE has been doing a lot of programmes in the state.  “Our programmes have been up and running. 

We are also anticipating that sooner or later, several other programmes will commence all in an effort to enhance the socio-economic wellbeing and welfare of the masses”, he promised.

He assured that the cordial and robust relationship between the Rivers State government and NDE would be maintained.
