Police Detain 3 OSPAC Members Over Killing Of Elimgbu Youth
Three members of OSPAC believed to be operating in a neigbouring community to Elimgbu in Obi/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State have been detained at Elimgbu Police Station for allegedly killing one Bright Amawhule, an indigene of the community.
Sources from the community told our reporter that the deceased victim went to his site where he was mold blocks when he met his untimely death.
The source disclosed that OSPAC members met him at the site believed to be in dispute some time ago and shot him and allegedly said they have an order to shoot anybody seen on the site.
We gathered that the youth of Elimgbu confronted the OSPAC personnel who could not state reason for their action and seized three of them and handed them over to the Police.
We learned that some hoodlums took advantage of the process by looting the building and office of the OSPAC personnel.
The Youth President of Elimgbu, Uche Morgan in a telephone interview with our reporter disclosed that the deceased victim was shot by OSPAC members from a neighbouring community when he went to check on workers moulding block in his site.
Mr. Morgan described the Killing as provocative and unwarranted.
He maintained that the land where the deceased victim was shot is the deceased victim’s land.
He revealed that the matter has been reported to the Police and the suspects are being detained in the station.
The spokesperson of Rivers State Police command Nnamdi Omoni, a Superintendent of Police (SP) responding via text message on enquiry by our reporter into the incident, said he will get back to us but he was yet to do so as at press time.
