Chidi Lloyd Promises Priority Attention To  “Ishimbam” Development

The former majority leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chidi Julius Lloyd who recently decamped from the All Progressives Congress (APC) back to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has given a firm promise to use his political capacity to attract needed development of “Ishimbam” communities of  Ikwerre Ethnic Nationality which includes Elele, Omerelu, Apani, Egbeda, Omudioga, Itu, Ubima and Akpabu.

He stated this over the weekend when he paid a courtesy call to the Ikwerre political leader, Eze, Sir Mike Elechi at his Vintage Farm Estate, Elele.

According to him, “my decamping  is more of a home coming. A few days ago, I decided to return back to the umbrella of the PDP for shelter as I am tired of sweeping the street with the brooms and I needed to come and inform my elder brother, Eze, Sir Mike Elechi and indeed my “Ishimbam” people that what they have been hearing is true,” he said.

He made it clear that with Eze Elechi whom he described as a philanthropist per excellence and a development expert, it is pertinent the stakeholders of “Ishimbam” communities form a strong synergy for their common development purposes, considering their peculiarities.

Rt. Hon Lloyd explained that nobody wooed him back into the PDP but that the benevolence of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike was what did the magic.

“Martin Luther King said the best way to win your adversary is to show him love, the Governor restored electricity to our community and as well started reconstructing our roads and I then imagine what it would be if I fully work with him, since development is why we are in politics,” he said.

He then promised not only to mobilize support for Governor Wike and the PDP with all his might but would attract development and improved welfare of his people with the new found love as a beautiful bride.

Earlier in his remarks, the chief host of the event which witnessed a full house of PDP Elele Ward four(4) members Eze, Sir Mike Elechi welcomed Rt. Hon Chidi Lloyd and his entourage back to the PDP fold, adding that his return will be a plus for “Ishimbam” communities as an astute politician.

He stated further that the stakeholders in the area were determined to partner together with Lloyd to improve the welfare of their people, adding that even as the former lawmaker was residing at the village for some time now, his presence there must have improved the fortunes of some persons who were engaged as domestic workers.

Eze Elechi made it clear that with the opening of the Akpabu – Egbeda link road in Ikwerre LGA which was denied the people surprisingly by the immediate past Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for political gimmicks, it is easier to spread development tentacles now to the rural areas.

He advised Hon Lloyd to employ the same strength, vigour and wisdom he is known for and work with Governor Wike whom he noted is working round the clock to restored the state to her lost glory.

Also speaking, the Paramount Ruler/Nyenweli Omerelu Kingdom, in Ikwerre LGA of Rivers State, HRH, Eze Benneth Ugo (JP) reminded the audience that despite the balkanization of the “Ishimbam” communities through the creation of local governments from the former Ikwerre/Etche LGA, the “Ishimbam” communities still maintain their common identity and pursue their improved welfares in any way possible.

Those present at the event include Deputy Leader of Ikwerre Legislative Assembly, and councillor representing Ward 4, Hon Amadi Jacob; Principal Secretary Kelga, Sir, Hon Innocent Worusah; Kelga Chief of Staff, Hon Charles Wobodo,; Sir Sam Eke; Chief Godwin Eke, Nyeoha Alloysius Wokpeogwu and PDP Ward 4 Chairman, Mr. Benson Enyinda.
