The Rivers State Government is set to employ 6000 teachers for both primary and secondary schools in order to improve the quality and standard of academic activities in the State.
The Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike disclosed this information in a live broadcast on television in Port Harcourt today.
Governor Wike during the live broadcast, spoke on diverse issues. He spoke about his experience in the just concluded Edo State Gubernatorial Elections. He narrated how the Inspector General of Police (IGP) ordered to leave Edo State while his Imo State and Kano State counterparts were not harassed.
Governor Wike further explained that the Inspector General of Polices’ role was premeditated because the Rivers State Government is challenging the deduction of its revenue by the Federal Government for the Police Trust Fund.
Gov. Wike also said that Governors have been reduced to Chief Logistics Officers and not Chief Security Officers, that the Governors do not have any control over security in their States, because those who are securing them can be withdrawn at will.
Governor Wike while concluding his speech during the live broadcast, said that the employment process will commence soon, in order for teachers to be available to resume schools and carry on academic activities when schools will resume for the post Covid 19 resumption.
This is a welcome development as it will create more jobs for Rivers State indigenes and residents and also help the students and the level of academic activities in the State. Thanks to Gov Wike for always carrying the good people of Rivers State to greater heights.
