IAUE Suspend Students On Allegation Of Cultism, Rape
The Management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) has suspended three male students on allegation of involvement in cultism and rape. According to a statement issued by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Ozo Mekuri Ndimele suspends and posted on the school facebook page, the students are:
1. Julius Isirimah – UE/2018/CHEM/BSC.ED4/0007 – Yr 2 Chemistry Dept., and
2. Dukobo D Sowanate – UE/2017/BED4/0016 – Yr 3 Geo. Dept.
Julius Isirimah was brought to the University Health Centre almost lifeless following an attack on him by a rival cult group led by Dukobo Sowanate.
The statement read that particularly worrisome about the matter is that Julius Isirimah was rusticated by Uniport because he was a member of a notorious cult group.
The Vice Chancellor in the statement disclosed that the matter has been referred to the Students Disciplinary Committee for further investigation.
In a related development, the institution suspended another male student on allegation of rape of a female student.
The statement read in part:
“The Management of IAUE has suspended a male student from studies on allegation of brutal rape of his female colleague. His name is Nwiroegbu Onyebuchi – UE/2016/COMP/BED4/0052 – Yr4 Computer Science.”
In the meantime, the matter has been referred to the Students Disciplinary Committee for further investigation.
It would be recalled that three male students of Institution were accused of gang- raping a female student at hostel C inside the University campus last month and two out of the three students have been arrested and undergoing Investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Port Harcourt.
