As the South-South Stakeholders met in Government House, Port-Harcourt on Tuesday November, 24th 2020 for a crucial talk over the welfare of the region, various Youth organizations who came under the aegis of Coalition of Niger Delta Youths mobilized, protesting with different placards in support of the Minister for Niger Delta, His Excellency, Godswill Akpabio.
The inscription on the various placards include: “NASS please release NDDC Budget; The Niger Delta Youths Supports Due Process and NASS please stop haunting the IMC”.
Speaking with newsmen, leader of the group, Mr. Richard Asuquo, said they are about five different youths groups who came in solidarity with the Honourable Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio. Asuquo said that the placards which speaks for itself is urging the National Assembly members to expedite action and pass the NDDC budget which he noted has stalled development of the abandoned region.
The Niger Delta Coalition said while they are not aversed to due process in the affairs of the intervention agency, they deemed it necessary to give their maximum support to the Minister to fast forward his action plans for the region which they noted, is affecting the social and economic activities of the region.
“We actually are in support of the due process, so that everybody would be carried along in the scheme of things”, he said.
The Niger Delta Youths who came from the nine Niger Delta States were all over the area with their flags singing solidarity songs and appeared to be determined to make a difference with their huge presence.
